Coatings for ships
Ships are the scene of the most diverse operations. These all involve heavy loads, with properties such as anti-slip and cleanability being highly important. In addition, they must protect the subsurface against all kinds of external influences, including fresh and salt water. A seamless coating based on Rocathan Polyurea is applied in a thickness of 2 to 3 mm. We therefore no longer refer to this as a coating, but as a liner or synthetic layer.
These layers are applied under high pressure and follow the subsurface seamlessly. All details are fully incorporated into the synthetic layer, creating maximum protection for the ship. The coating is easy to maintain at the same time and can withstand the mechanical loads that occur on a ship. Rocathan Polyurea is extremely strong, wear-resistant and viscoelastic, thus preventing or minimising any damage due to heavy objects falling on the surface. In any case, the functionality of the layer remains intact at all times. Effects from the subsurface are no problem for this crack-bridging product either.
The synthetic coatings based on Rocathan Polyurea are used, among other things, for:
- Ship decks
- Processing decks
- Ship’s holds
- Cooling and freezing units
- Chain lockers
