Evides Water | Shell Rotterdam

Evides Industriewater is the leading water partner for the industry in the Benelux. Evides Industriewater provides tailor-made solutions, with a focus on the chemical industry, petrochemicals and the food industry: Instead of simply supplying installations, Evides Industriewater provides complete customised water services. For example, Evides runs a number of demineralised water tanks on the Shell Rotterdam site that are used in Shell’s production processes.

A remarkable newcomer in the eastern part of the bus station: a new waiting area and workspace for GVB, EBS and Connexxion bus drivers, designed by Benthem Crouwel Architects. This is an area where drivers can rest, catch up or do some other work in between their routes. The waiting area is more than 7 meters high, 13 meters long and 3 meters wide. The wooden building kit was applied with Prokol hotspray.

Vopak | Rotterdam

Koninklijke Vopak N.V. is the world’s largest tank storage provider, specialized in the storage and handling of liquid chemicals, gases and oil products. The tanks in Rotterdam were placed on a bottom in which a special drip tray provision had already been made. The walls are constructed from steel sheet piles which, however, were not completely liquid-tight, but had to be.

Castellum de Hoge Woerd

Castellum Hoge Woerd is a life-size construction of a Roman fort as located on the same spot around the beginning of the era. Completely build with battlements, watchtowers and gates. The walk-around needed a walkable walkable coating. Given the wooden construction, movements from the subsoil as well as expansion and contraction had to be taken into account.

Tennisclub IJburg | The Couch

Construction of a new clubhouse for the IJburg Tennis Club in Amsterdam started in November 2013. The roof of the building designed by MVRDV tilts upwards and downwards, thereby creating a stand and viewing point. The roof is completely made from wood. As this is a living material which always moves, it is essential that the seal can follow this movement.

OLVG Amsterdam | Ketelhuis

The Onze Lieve Vrouwen Gasthuis (OLVG) hospital is located in the heart of Amsterdam, and it has the busiest emergency department in the Netherlands. The boilers used to heat the hospital are located on the top floor of the building. During construction, some curious decisions were made with regard to this floor. Cracks had formed and the quality of the finishing of the floor left much to be desired.
